The outline of the skull in the centre of the dial of the BR-01 Burning Skull is in relief and creates a very realistic three-dimensional effect. But the real hallmark of the watch is the fully 'tattooed' steel case. Bell & Ross craftsmen have created a network of engraved and lacquered decorations that wraps around all sides of the timepiece, including the case back. The black lacquered flames and symbols (an hourglass, a rose, a heart and a scythe) are explicitly reminiscent of a tattoo. The Burning Skull is a tribute to those military units that have a skull in their coat of arms as a good luck charm to exorcise death.
