Breguet Classique Calendrier 7337: something has changed

More modern but still the same, the Classique Calendrier 7337 has been updated with small but significant changes while fully respecting the iconic codes that have marked the history of Breguet.

Breguet Classique Calendrier 7337

One of Breguet's most elegant and recognisable timepieces, the Classique 7737 calendar with moon phase and off-centre dial features a few minor stylistic updates to bring it up to date. The arrangement of the indications remains unchanged. But it is in the details that one sees the differences. Starting with the grain d'orge guilloché motif on the dial back, which now has a more discreet and subtle texture.

Continuing with the two side windows for the date and day of the week, one of the changes that stands out the most is that while they used to be smaller and rounded, they are now slightly larger, with a linear cut, and have a blue background with the characters printed in white, contrasting with the silver tone of the dial.

The finishing of the off-centre small seconds display also changes: with a simplified track, it abandons the damier motif and seamlessly takes up the same fine Clous de Paris guillochage as the hours and minutes display. And then the Breguet signature and serial number: formerly on a single arch at 12 o'clock, now separated in two rectangular cartouches in the centre of the dial.

Also redesigned is the moon phase disc, handmade in hammered white gold, while the surrounding clouds are now sandblasted with a matt texture and not engraved. Otherwise, everything remains unchanged. Starting with the 39 mm white gold case, which is 9.95 mm thick. And then its mechanical heart: the automatic calibre 502.3 QSE1, a slim movement just 3.8 mm thick, with a power reserve of 45 hours.

It is a more modern version of a classic of elegance, offering itself as an alternative to the previous versions but not replacing them (leaving room for all kinds of taste). And like all Breguets, it is certainly a watch whose value is also reflected in its natural descent from the great past and the undisputed importance of the figure of the Master.
