Eberhard & Co. at the 2019 Winter Marathon

Guido Barcella and Ombretta Ghidotti, in a 1963 Porsche 356 A Coupé, won the 31st Winter Marathon, a regularity race reserved for historic cars built before 1968 and rally cars produced before 1976, divided into two stages. In total, the competitors covered 420 km along the most beautiful roads in Trentino Alto Adige, admiring the stunning views of the Dolomites. Second place went to the crew of Franco Spagnoli and Giuseppe Parisi in a 1938 Fiat 508 C, while Gianmaria Aghem and Rossella Conti in a 1965 Lancia Fulvia Coupé 1.2 came third. There were a total of 100 entrants and 94 starters. Warm sunshine made it possible to fully enjoy the spectacular Eberhard Trophy of the Frozen Lake at Madonna di Campiglio, an exciting knockout challenge reserved for the first 32 classified crews, won by Alberto Riboldi and Paolo Sabbadini in a 1933 Fiat 508 S Balilla Sport, who got the better of Riccardo and Federico Riboldi in a 1939 Fiat 508 C, respectively Alberto's brother and son, in a family final. Third place went to Marco Gatta and Luigi Maffina in a 1959 Porsche 356 A Coupé. Awarding the winners together with the organisers were Mario Peserico, CEO of Eberhard Italia, and the guest of honour and Brand Ambassador of the brand Miki Biasion, world rally champion. Eberhard & Co., in fact, was the Main Sponsor and Official Timekeeper of the 31st edition of the Winter Marathon, which took place in Madonna di Campiglio from 24 to 27 January. For the 2019 edition, the race format was maintained, divided into 2 separate stages for a total of over 420 km with 11 Dolomite passes, with 65 time trials (an absolute record for the event). What exists between Eberhard & Co. and the world of speed and challenges with a retro flavour, is a well-established link, so much so that it led the company to dedicate to one of the greatest drivers of all time, Tazio Nuvolari, a special collection of watches, marked by the motoring style of yesterday and today, also becoming sponsor of the most important event named after him. Since then, the brand has been present at many of the most significant events on the national and international historic car racing scene, fully reflecting its style, refinement and attention to detail, such as the Winter Marathon, which is once again one of the most important winter regularity events reserved for historic cars.
