On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the first trip into space, celebrated on 12 April, Fortis wanted to pay tribute to Yuri Gagarin with the creation of a limited edition watch: the Spacematic GMT, with a dial personalised by an inscription recalling the date mentioned and a case back engraved with the Soviet astronaut. It was the latter who had himself launched into space, thus becoming the first man to go beyond the limits of our planet and open the door to the discovery of unknown space. With the production of this special Spacematic, the watch manufacturer once again wished to emphasise its strong link with the aerospace sector.
