Do you know what the expression 'Zulu Time' means? We'll tell you. The new Longines Spirit Zulu Time takes its name from the first wristwatch with two independent hour hands, made by Longines in 1925 and characterised by the presence of the Zulu symbol on the dial (in reference to the letter "Z", which stands for universal time in aviation). It is worth noting that Longines has more than 100 years of expertise in the development of multi-time zone watches. In fact, the company introduced the first pocket watch with two time zones in 1908, at the request of the Ottoman Empire. This new timepiece, with its 42 mm steel case, is equipped with a bidirectional rotating bezel with a ceramic ring on which the 24-hour scale is placed. On the dial, an additional hand with a triangular tip makes one revolution of the same in 24 hours. The movement used is the calibre L844.4 (based on ETA A31.L411, 11 ½ lignes diameter, 21 jewels, 25,200 vib/h, silicon balance spring, 72-hour power reserve), self-winding mechanical and chronometer-certified by the COSC. The dial is available in matt black, microbillé anthracite or sunburst blue, with a date window positioned at 6 o'clock. The baton hands and hour markers (Arabic and geometric numerals), sampled with Super-LumiNova, allow optimum readability of the indications in all circumstances. The dial itself is protected by a domed sapphire crystal with an interior and exterior anti-reflective treatment. Water resistance is guaranteed up to a pressure of 10 atmospheres. The new Longines Spirit Zulu Time is available with a steel bracelet (with a booklet clasp equipped with safety push-buttons) or with a leather strap (in brown, beige or blue, depending on the colour of the dial), with a folding clasp and a micro-adjustment system; both options are equipped with an interchangeable system.
