Louis Vuitton - Acquisition of the atelier La Fabrique du Temps

Louis Vuitton further strengthened its watchmaking division with the acquisition of the Geneva-based movement factory 'La Fabrique du Temps'.

Below is the official press release from the Maison:

"Louis Vuitton announces the acquisition of 'La Fabrique du Temps', a watchmaking atelier founded in Geneva and specialised in the design and production of movements with very high technical standards such as the Tourbillon and the Minute Repeater.

Founded in 2007, "La Fabrique du Temps" has been a partner of Louis Vuitton since its creation. The acquisition will strengthen the watchmaking activity of Louis Vuitton, which since 2002 has opened an atelier in La-Chaux-de-Fonds, in the heart of the Swiss Jura region, to produce movements including the famous Tambour watch that has become the Maison's signature timekeeper.

The acquisition of 'La Fabrique du Temps' reflects Louis Vuitton's desire to achieve the highest quality standards for its watches and to further improve its expertise in developing and perfecting movements.

This decision was taken in accordance with Louis Vuitton's strategy of always choosing the best centres of expertise to manufacture its products. For the same reason, Louis Vuitton decided in 2009 to reinforce its know-how in the production of quality leathers by opening the "Tanneries de la Comète" tannery in Estaimbourg, Belgium. The same year, Louis Vuitton tripled the size of the 'Manufacture de Souliers' in Fiesso d'Artico in Veneto, a region famous throughout the world for the quality and beauty of the shoes produced there.
