Chinese watch exhibition at the Patek Philippe Museum

Patek Philippe Museum “Lo specchio della seduzione. Prestigiose coppie di orologi cinesi”
Patek Philippe Museum 'The mirror of seduction. Prestigious pairs of Chinese watches'.

A new exhibition at the Patek Philippe Museum in Geneva, opened in 2001, which from 15 May to 16 October hosts the exhibition 'The Mirror of Seduction. Prestigious pairs of Chinese watches'. The original idea had already taken shape in 2002, when the Museum's curator, Arnaud Tellier, thought of an exhibition of watches produced for the Chinese market, particularly those made in sets of pairs. The Patek Museum includes more than a hundred watches produced for the Eastern market from the mid-18th century to around 1850. The oldest were made in London, and all have the characteristic of being produced in pairs. The exhibition, located on the third floor, presents around forty examples (including those from the Museum's permanent collection and generous loans from public institutions and private collectors). The choice of subjects represented on each model is rich and varied: with religious, mythological or simply decorative themes, they are all small works of art destined at the time for Chinese dignitaries.
