Seiko Presage Limited Edition

Seiko pays tribute to the design of the single-pusher chronograph - the first Japanese watch with a chronograph function - introduced by the company in 1964 on the occasion of the Tokyo Olympic Games, with a model produced in a limited and numbered series of the Presage series. The watch, with a mechanical three-hand movement and date, in three versions with a silver, black and green dial, is available in a limited edition of 1,964 pieces to celebrate the year the aforementioned single-pusher chronograph was launched. As mentioned, in 1964 Seiko was commissioned to make the official watch for the first international sporting event held in Japan that year, an occasion that initiated the development of a watch with a chronograph function. The single-pusher chronograph was a hand-wound mechanical watch (visible in the photos below). Not only because of its functionality, but also because of its design and excellent legibility, the single-pusher chronograph is still considered a highly sought-after timepiece, a reference standard that expresses Seiko's manufacturing prowess. In the new Limited Editions of the Presage, the design of the 1964 Single Push-Piece Chronograph has been reproduced as faithfully as possible. The 41.3 mm steel case is curved downwards to allow the watch to fit perfectly on the wrist. High legibility of the dial is ensured by day and night through the use of Lumibrite on the hands and indices, while the inner surface of the sapphire crystal has been given an anti-reflective treatment. The caseback is engraved with the progressive number relating to the limited series. Equipped with a Seiko calibre 6R35 self-winding mechanical movement (power reserve of over 70 hours), these new Presage Limited Editions are water-resistant to 10 atmospheres of pressure and have a recommended retail price of €830.
