Only two days to go until the important auction Sotheby's dedicated to haute horlogerie. Next Sunday, from 8 p.m. onwards, two watches of great historical value will be auctioned in the halls of the Hotel Beau Rivage in Geneva: the 'Negus Watch', offered by Emperor Menelik II to the French engineer Léon Chefneux for his contribution to the construction of the first railway network linking Djibouti and Addis-Abeba; and a Cartier pocket watch made at the request of Mr. Henry P. Davison, one of the promoters of the creation of the League of Red Cross Societies. In addition, there will be other splendid masterpieces, such as extremely rare Patek Philippe and Vacheron Constantin wristwatches and two extraordinary collections of enamelled pocket watches. In all, 226 lots will be assembled for this auction, ranging from the late 18th century to the present day.
