Tissot has been appointed Official Timekeeper of the 17th Asian Games in Incheon, which will take place from 19 September to 4 October 2014 in the city of Incheon, Republic of Korea. The Asian Games, held every four years, date back to 1951 and are the oldest and most prestigious event on the Olympic Council of Asia calendar. The Games offer 13,000 athletes from 45 countries and territories the opportunity to compete in the 36 disciplines. The Asian Games are also the largest multi-discipline sports event in the world. In addition to traditional sports such as swimming, athletics, basketball and cycling, the Asian Games also feature sports such as sepaktakraw, wushu and kabaddi, which are traditional to Asian culture. Tissot offers a customised approach to each individual competition, which is ideal for an event like the Asian Games that brings together such a variety of sporting disciplines. We are proud to have an experienced partner by our side who can offer state-of-the-art timekeeping and the latest technology in the industry." A deep-rooted passion for the sport has been transformed over the years into an intensive programme of high-profile timekeeping assignments that have enabled Tissot to acquire the experience and expertise necessary to offer all disciplines the utmost precision under all circumstances. In addition to being an official partner of MotoGP, FIM Superbike, FIBA, AFL, and CBA, the Cycling, Fencing and Ice Hockey World Championships, which entrust timekeeping and data management to the Swiss watchmaker, Tissot has already been Official Timekeeper of the Asian Games in 1998, 2002 and 2006. For Tissot, this is a perfect platform to demonstrate its constant commitment to precision. François Thiébaud, President of Tissot, said "The Asian Games perfectly reflect the spirit of Tissot with its eclecticism and incredible dynamism. We are proud to be able to demonstrate our expertise at such an extraordinary event, which allows us to showcase our skills in many different ways. It also allows us to put ourselves to the test, as the timing requires measurements of the highest precision and further confirms the quality of our watches. We have already provided our services to the Asian Games before so we know what they require and we have everything we need. However, we strive to bring more precision and innovation to every occasion and to constantly improve this essential element that plays a key role in the success of the Games, as we do with all our watches. Our motto is 'Innovators by tradition' and we always remain true to it."
