Girard-Perregaux - Le Corbusier Trilogy

Girard-Perregaux reinterprets the works of Le Corbusier, one of the greatest theorists of 20th century architectural modernism, through a series of three exceptional watches belonging to the Vintage 1945 collection. 1945 is the year in which the Swiss artist published one of his most famous works "Les Trois établissements humains" and perfected his anthropometric scale of modulor proportions (the modulor is a scale of magnitudes, regarding the proportions of the human body, which must be used by all architects to construct not only spaces but also shelves, supports, accesses that are perfectly in accordance with the standard measurements of the human body). This series of special clocks is the Le Corbusier Trilogy, whose examples evoke the three places that formed the backdrop to the most important stages of his life and career: La Chaux-de-Fonds, Paris and Marseilles.

Vintage 1945 Le Corbusier - La Chaux-de-Fonds

Girard-Perregaux craftsmen pay tribute to one of Le Corbusier's early works by faithfully reproducing a mother-of-pearl bas-relief on the dial. No less than seven days are needed to make each dial and one of the greatest difficulties was to preserve the integrity of five shades of the original work, which required infinite patience and special attention to detail. The case is in pink gold and the movement is mechanical with automatic winding, calibre GP3300-0078. Limited edition of 5 pieces. Price: 45,100 euros.

Vintage 1945 Le Corbusier - Paris

This second Girard-Perregaux limited edition pays tribute to Le Corbusier's imprint on the decorative arts and their materials, such as the use of a metal (steel) case and a leather strap. The hand-engraved dial evokes the modulor system as well as the architect's perception of light. Same calibre and limited edition as its predecessor. Price: 18,000 euros.

Vintage 1945 Le Corbusier - Marseille

For this latest model in the Le Corbusier Trilogy, Girard-Perregaux has developed a dial in concrete, a material unusual in contemporary watchmaking and pioneered by Le Corbusier in the field of architecture, which takes three working days to be cast, dried and finished by hand. The case is in steel. Again, the movement and limited edition number are the same as those used for the other two pieces. Price: 27,100 euros.
