Breguet - Double anniversary

On Friday 5 and Saturday 6 October, Breguet invited customers, friends and exclusive partners to the celebration of a double anniversary, that of the bicentenary of the first wristwatch and the tenth anniversary of the prestigious "Reine de Naples" collection. The setting for the event was the Gulf of Naples, where the Maison presented a preview of a new anniversary special "Reine de Naples" model and a complete set.

The first wristwatch was commissioned from Breguet in 1812 by Caroline Murat, Queen of Naples and younger sister of Napoleon Bonaparte, and it was to her that the House dedicated an exquisitely feminine collection, the "Reine de Naples", presented in 2002 and inspired by the famous watch registered under serial number 2639. Today, Breguet intends to celebrate this historic female figure whose name is inextricably linked to the birth of the most emblematic model in the watchmaking universe.

Among the many events held to celebrate this double anniversary, the Maison invited its guests to visit the Royal Palace of Capodimonte and the Royal Palace, home to the Queen's flats, and to take part in the travelling exhibition "Reine de Naples", set up for the occasion on the hills of Capri to introduce them to the world of the first wristwatch. Finally, at the end of the commemorative event, guests took part in an exclusive gala dinner on Capri, one of the most luxurious lounges on the Bay of Naples.

The 'Reine de Naples' anniversary special features an 18-carat white gold case and a silver-plated gold dial set with 156 brilliant-cut diamonds and 303 brilliant-cut blue sapphires. At its heart is the calibre 78SO self-winding mechanical movement with a 65-hour power reserve.
