TAG Heuer welcomes new ambassador Sergio Perez and announces GT Car partnership with McLaren. In a year that marks the 50th anniversary of McLaren and the 50th anniversary of the TAG Heuer Carrera chronograph collection, Ron Dennis, President of McLaren Group proudly announces the extension of the link between McLaren and TAG Heuer. On the occasion of the unveiling of the new McLaren P1 GT Car at the Geneva Motor Show, TAG Heuer and McLaren announced the consolidation of their relationship, which from 2013 will extend to the GT Car sector in addition to Formula 1, a partnership that has been in place since 1985, and one of the longest-running between a watch brand and a racing team. Also presented at the McLaren stand in Geneva was TAG Heuer's new ambassador, Mexican Vodafone McLaren Mercedes driver Sergio Perez, who joins Jenson Button, Leonardo DiCaprio, Cameron Diaz and Maria Sharapova, among others. Sergio Perez's watch is a TAG Heuer Carrera Calibre 1887 Tachymètre Chronograph 43mm with a ceramic bezel. In addition, TAG Heuer confirms its role as official timekeeper for the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes Formula 1 team and extends its unique sports timing expertise to the brand's GT Car division. TAG Heuer accompanies and supports McLaren with the development of ever more accurate timing instruments, a technical partnership that underlines the many similarities between the worlds of watchmaking and motorsport. The strengthening of the partnership also includes TAG Heuer's future support of McLaren's 'Young Driver Development Program'. TAG Heuer has always supported the future promise of racing. Today it continues to support the most talented young drivers alongside McLaren. The TAG Heuer logo will be featured on the uniforms of Vodafone McLaren Mercedes drivers and TAG Heuer ambassadors Jenson Button and Sergio Perez, on their single-seaters and on the new McLaren GT Cars.
