Chopard - Superfast Power Control Watches

Belonging to Chopard's Classic Racing collection is the new Superfast Power Control, a watch with a steel case and mechanical self-winding movement entirely designed, developed and assembled in-house in the workshops of Fleurier Ebauches. In this model, presented at BaselWorld 2013, there is no shortage of references to the world of motor racing: Starting with the dial, which is decorated with vertical anthracite stripes on a black background, reminiscent of the famous "racing stripes", the coloured stripes on the bonnet and roof of cars to distinguish them from one another; on the flange, the minute markers adopt the graphics of the rev counters and speed indicators of vintage cars; the bracelet in natural rubber with a steel folding clasp recalls the smooth tread of slick tyres, an immediate reference to Formula 1. Numerous other elements, such as the racing wheel on the rubber-coated gold crown, the engraved knurls on the flanks of the lugs, the pushers that look like cooling fins, and the Allen screws on the bezel inspired by those on the rims, all hark back to the world of motor racing. The calibre used, Chopard 01.02-M, is no exception. Its bridges have been pierced to create thin parallel lines, like the radiator fins on cars of yesteryear, all visible through the opening in the caseback.
