Number of boutiques rises to eight Girard-Perregaux the world: the first flagship store in the United States was opened at 701 Madison Avenue, an area with a high concentration of luxury brands. The space, designed by the Italian architect Ermanno Previdi, is reminiscent of an art gallery: the internal surfaces of the premises are clad in a special light-coloured wenge wood rich in grain, while the walls are lined with niches and light boxes used as display windows. The shop opening was attended by distinguished guests, including PPR President François Henri Pinault and his wife, the beautiful actress Salma Hayek. To mark the event, Luigi Macaluso, President of Girard-Perregaux, donated two watches to the "Christie's Green Auction - A bid to save the heart", an initiative organised for charity purposes by the international auction house, to be held today in New York: they are the WW.TC Tourbillon on Three Gold Bridges No. 1 and the Cat's Eye Tourbillon on Three Gold Bridges.
