The 2010 Placido Domingo's Operalia, an international opera competition created in 1993 by the famous Spanish tenor to discover, reward and help the best young opera singers of our time, has come to an end. This year Operalia took place for the first time in Italy, in one of Europe's opera temples, La Scala in Milan. Partner and main sponsor of the competition the brand Rolexwhich has always been sensitive to the world of art and culture with interesting initiatives such as Master and Student, which aims to identify talented young people at the beginning of their careers to enable them to spend a year in close contact with a leading exponent of their discipline.

The Operalia final took place at the Teatro alla Scala on Sunday 2 May; the young singers were accompanied by the Filarmonica della Scala conducted by Placido Domingo. Bulgarian soprano Sonya Yoncheva and Romanian tenor Stefan Pop are the young winners of the first two prizes of the 18th edition of Placido Domingo's Operalia International Competition.
