Breitling DC-3 soon in Italy

The Breitling DC-3, the legendary aircraft that flies the colours of the Swiss Maison, will arrive in Milan on 10 September. The start of its grand tour around the world was given last 9 March in Geneva. A date that was not chosen at random: on the same day seventy-seven years ago, in 1940, this historic twin-engine propeller-driven aircraft made its maiden flight in the United States and only three days later was delivered to American Airlines. Leased to the US military from 1942 to 1944, it was later used by several North American airlines. Purchased in 2008 by pilot Francisco Agullo and a group of friends, thanks to the support of Breitling, it subsequently underwent restoration work. Since then, it has taken part in numerous air shows organised by the Maison. The Italian leg of the World Tour will be the occasion for the presentation of the 500-piece limited edition of the Navitimer 01 (46 mm) in steel and Breitling-manufactured movement. The watch bears an engraved event logo on its caseback.
