TAG Heuer Special Editions dedicated to Muhammad Ali

On Tuesday 10 October, at a special event in London, TAG Heuer unveiled the new Special Edition Carrera dedicated to the legendary boxer. The event, held at the BXR London gymnasium in partnership with The Muhammad Ali Center, had among its guests Larry Holmes, one of only five boxers to have defeated Muhammad Ali, opponent and friend, and TAG Heuer ambassador David Guetta. Also present was singer Geri Halliwell, wife of Chris Horner, Team Manager of Red Bull Racing, TAG Heuer's Formula 1 partner. The watches, which are a reinterpretation of the first collection launched last year, take their inspiration from the 1957 Heuer Ring-Master stop watch, capable of measuring times in various sports disciplines. The Carrera Muhammad Ali has a 43-millimetre steel case and two crowns, the traditional crown at 3 o'clock to set the time and at 10 o'clock a special crown to turn the flange. The caseback is engraved with an image of Muhammad Ali and his signature. Two sets of colours are available for the dial: one with a red marking for traditional heavyweight boxing matches, 15 rounds of 3 minutes, the other with a cream-coloured marking for amateur boxing matches, 2 minutes per round. Both colours have a one-minute interval drawn in black. Available with a black or blue leather bracelet or in steel with a blue opaline dial. A TAG Heuer Carrera Muhammed Ali commemorative watch and a boxing glove signed by the champion more than 20 years ago were auctioned off on the night of the event to raise funds for the Muhammad Ali Centre in Louisville, Kentucky, USA.
