Sleight of hand at the Hermès Temporary Store in Rome

In 2018, Hermès celebrates the theme of play. For nine months, from March to December 2018, and in three stages, the former Hermès boutique on Via Condotti is transformed into a temporary sales space where objects from the House's collection are presented in their transversality. The authors of this scenic representation are designer Matali Crasset and contemporary art curator Stéphane Corréard: thanks to them, conjuring tricks, illusionist magic and other attractions take turns aboard an extravagant time capsule that houses inside, in turn and for three months each, the universes of illusionists Jean-Eugène Robert-Houdin and Georges Méliès and writer, poet and inventor Raymond Roussel. It is their artistic prowess that dialogues with objects from the Émile Hermès collection (grandson of the Maison's founder), the House conservatory and works by contemporary artists. Everyone takes part in this ingenious performance, between decoration and trompe-l'oeil, miniature theatre and optical effects. The Hermès temporary store at Via Condotti 67 is open from Monday to Saturday, from 10.30 am to 7 pm.
