New Bulgari flagship in Barcelona

Flagship Bulgari - Barcellona 1Paseo de Gracia, Passeig de Gràcia in Catalan, is one of Barcelona's most elegant boulevards, known the world over for the flair of its modernist architecture - from Antoni Gaudí and Lluís Domènech i Montaner - but also for its splendid fashion and jewellery shops. Right here, in this artery of luxury, the Bulgari flagship store present since 2010 has recently undergone a thorough renovation. The intervention - aimed at adapting the luxury brand's shop to Peter Marino's new concept, in force at Bulgari since 2015 - took the form of a radical renovation of the flagship shop, not only in terms of furnishings but also in terms of structure. An expression of Bulgari's excellence, this space is certainly one of the most important - in terms of finish and size - opened by the Maison in 2017, first in Europe and second only to the New York flagship worldwide. Stretching over an area of 250 square metres, Bulgari's new Spanish jewel has a façade that is not very wide, but develops extensively in depth. Characterised by neutral tones that accentuate the atmosphere of balance and timeless elegance of the environment, the flagship presents an entrance area that hosts the most exclusive Bulgari jewellery for men and women; a raised mezzanine where the accessory collections and bridal proposals embellished with diamonds are displayed; two VIP rooms, in the final and most concealed part of the shop. In terms of finishes, marble is predominant in the shop, while in terms of furnishings, brass metal elements and walnut wood panelling stand out. To fit out the flagship shop, Bulgari called on one of its most loyal partners: the Vicenza-based company Zordan, one of the main players in the production of furnishings for the flagship shops of the most qualified luxury brands, with over 50 years of know-how behind it. Presenting the intervention, explaining the peculiarities and criticalities of the work, is Zordan's project manager Giuseppe Caruso, who was in charge of this important renovation. "Setting up a small work of art, capable of enhancing the uniqueness and boldness of Bulgari design, while having a reduced site timing: this was the challenge taken up by our company, which was entrusted with both the creation of the temporary shop - opened not far from the official space during the latter's renovation - and the fitting out of the flagship proper. Begun in mid-September 2017, the renovation was in fact completed by mid-December, when the Bulgari flagship was able to reopen in all its new magnificence. Among other things, the renovation included major structural works that required the availability of targeted permits, and since we could not wait for these documents to start work on the construction site, we chose to operate with an absolutely unusual timing, in which coordination between the various players involved - us, the general contractor, the local architect and all the other suppliers - was crucial." A virtuous reality and one of the first companies in Italy to become a B CorpTM by transforming itself into a Benefit Society, Zordan fitted out the Bulgari flagship store in Barcelona by supplying and installing multiple pieces of furniture. In addition to the specific supply of furniture, Zordan supported Bulgari with an important additional service. "Having many years of experience in fitting out this client's shops," concludes project manager Giuseppe Caruso, "in the most delicate moments, we also co-ordinated all the site activities, even those that did not specifically concern our supply, acting as an intermediary between the client's general contractor, local architect and project co-ordinator. This is a service that is usually much appreciated by Bulgari, especially on large and important construction sites, where deadlines are intransigent and where margins for error and 'surprises' must be reduced as much as possible."
