The union between watches and sport has always been the order of the day. One need only recall the link between Longines and horse riding, or that between Jaeger-LeCoultre and the world of polo. With regard to golf, on the other hand, two brands stand out for the attention they pay to this sport, and they are Patek Philippe and Franck Muller. The first mentioned house, in particular, organised on 10 June last, in the prestigious setting of the Circolo Golf di Villa d'Este, the sixth edition of the 'Omaggio al Movimento' (Homage to the Movement) event, a golf competition by invitation to bring together owners of Patek Philippe watches, lovers of fine watchmaking and the exclusive dealers who successfully represent the Geneva manufacture in Italy. 130 players were present, including Stefano Nava, Mauro Tassotti and Daniele Massaro, as well as many other personalities from the industrial world. In the Club's Bridge Room, on the other hand, there was an exhibition of the 2008 Patek Philippe collection. In addition to the winners for their golfing skills, Laura Gervasoni, General Manager of Patek Philippe Italia, also awarded prizes to those unfamiliar with irons and woods.

As far as Franck Muller is concerned, on the other hand, the fourth edition of the Franck Muller Golf Tour is worth mentioning. It consists of six stages, starting on 27 April at the Golf Club Le Robinie and concluding on Sunday 19 October at the prestigious Golf Club of Carimate. The 2008 Franck Muller Golf Tour is organised by MDL Montres de Luxe, the exclusive importer for Italy since 1991 of the Franck Muller haute de gamme watch and jewellery brand, in collaboration with its dealers. MDL does not only mean distribution and point-of-sale assistance, but also advertising and marketing aimed at reaching the most exclusive targets. It is in this perspective that the choice of Emiliano Carlotti - President of MDL - to approach the world of Golf once again with the reconfirmation of the Franck Muller Golf Tour 2008: "Golf has always been an elite sport in Italy. Golf enthusiasts represent a privileged socio-economic class, the same to which the Franck Muller brand is addressed. With its watches known throughout the world as 'complication jewels', it is the very embodiment of a luxury that is never ostentatious, but of absolute quality".
