Chanel, minority partner of Montres Journe SA

Just three days ago, news broke that Chanel had acquired a 20% stake in Montres Journe SA, appearing as a minority partner of the independent Swiss watchmaker founded by master watchmaker François-Paul Journe in the 1980s. This approach, already initiated by Chanel with Bell & Ross in 1998 and with Romain Gauthier in 2011, will aim to preserve the savoir-faire of the Geneva-based company, without interfering with the work of its watchmakers and without changing the image and reputation of this great independent brand. Journe designs, develops and manufactures the cases, dials and movements of its watches in-house and its production does not exceed 900 pieces per year, guaranteeing the exclusivity of its models.
