Design and concreteness combine harmoniously in the new Defy Classic Black Ceramic from Zenith, the first model in the Defy Classic collection to be made of this material, which is distinguished by its excellent hardness and characterised by its black shade. The fascinating display of micromechanics and excellent performance give this model a very contemporary metropolitan style. The Defy Classic has established itself as Zenith's expression of neo-futuristic watchmaking in its purest form. With the Defy Classic Black Ceramic, its typical characteristics are embodied in its dark colours with refined nuances and its unique, visionary architecture, both inside and out. Made of black zirconium oxide ceramic, the facetted 41 mm-diameter case features alternating polished and satin-finished surfaces that enhance its distinctive design, recalling the original Zenith Defy collection first presented in the 1970s. The angular silhouette of the case is softened by the circular bezel. The highlight of the Defy Classic Black Ceramic is certainly its innovative skeleton dial. The multi-layered element takes on a star shape and harmoniously merges the display with the movement. In daylight, the facetted hands and applied hour-markers appear to be one with the burnished ensemble of the skeleton dial and the visible parts of the movement, with their ruthenium-treated polished surfaces shimmering in the darkness, offering excellent legibility of the indications. At night, the Super-LumiNova SLN C1 coating emits a soft green glow reminiscent of the night lights of a city. Visible through the skeleton dial and sapphire back of the Defy Classic is the in-house automatic movement, Elite Calibre 670. The Elite calibre, for decades one of the basic movements in the Zenith range, is now presented for the first time in a skeleton version. Its entire anatomy has been rethought not only aesthetically, but also in terms of performance: the Defy Classic's Elite calibre adopts an escape wheel and an anchor made of silicon. The Defy Classic Black Ceramic is combined with an integrated unistructured black rubber strap.
