Sihh 2019: Girard-Perregaux Laureate Absolute

The 2019 edition of Sihh opened its doors today, and among the novelties presented is the new Laureato Absolute Chrono from Girard-Perregaux, seen above. The 44-millimetre case (compared to 42 for the 'normal' Laureato Chrono) is made of black PVD-coated titanium with a polished and satin finish, water resistance is now guaranteed up to 300 metres, and the newly designed rubber strap (black with blue stitching) is integrated into the case and personalised with an embossed engraving of the Maison's name. The strap is equipped with a booklet clasp with an adjustment system. What particularly catches the eye is the dial, which is a beautiful deep blue and shaded from the centre of the dial outwards to the flange with the minute and chrono seconds scales. Both the hands and indices are burnished and treated with luminescent substance and the indications on the dial are as follows: continuous seconds at 3 o'clock, chrono hours at 6 o'clock, chrono minutes at 9 o'clock, date window between 4 and 5 o'clock, chrono seconds in the centre. In addition to the chronograph version, the Laureato Absolute family also includes the three-hand model and the WW.TC, which is equipped with a world time function. All three models are powered by in-house movements.
