From MB&F comes an absolutely unconventional wristwatch. The case of the HM4 Thunderbolt is inspired by the world of aviation. Each of the 300 components of the calibre (the result of three long years of research and development) - including the regulating organ and screws - was developed specifically for this revolutionary movement. Two horizontal barrels connected in parallel via two trains of vertical wheels transfer energy to the escapement at the centre of the motor and move the twin hour and minute indicators and the power reserve. The numerous sections of the sapphire crystal case reveal the details and finishes of HM 4's complex micromechanics.
The shimmering aerodynamic shape of the Thunderbolt's titanium and sapphire 'reactors' stems from Max Busser's childhood passion for model aeroplanes, although none of them had anything like the futuristic look of HM 4. The incredible transparent sapphire glass section of the case takes more than 100 hours to transform a solid block of opaque crystal into a complex convex surface, which allows light to penetrate and illuminate the Thunderbolt's engine. Every component and every shape has a technical purpose: nothing is superfluous and every curve, every line is deliberately in harmony. The articulated lugs ensure absolute comfort.
