In constant search of the new: Roberto Rampinelli's exhibition

Opening today, 23 March, at the Spazio Espositivo Le Stanze at the Biblioteca Mediateca 'A.Meli' in Trescore Balneario, in the province of Bergamo, is Roberto Rampinelli's exhibition entitled 'Contaminazioni', curated by Maurizio Bonfanti and Raffaele Sicignano. Rampinelli, an engraver and painter who lives and works between Bergamo, Urbino and Amer in Catalonia, decided about a year ago to mix the most significant elements of the two languages he knows best, the drawing of engraving with the power of colour. On the one hand, he uses dry strokes of natural elements (flowers, branches, leaves, etc.) with the chalcographic press and, on the other hand, he uses a simple and refined technique called 'gum-printing', i.e. he makes printing clichés starting not from a copper plate, but from simple photocopies suitably treated, processed and printed on engraving paper. As far as the painting phase is concerned, the artist uses water colours diluted and spread in glazes on previously made prints and glued on wooden boards. The subjects depicted are both naturalistic elements, such as everyday domestic objects, and the human figure, the face in particular, which within this context has had a destabilising effect on Rampinelli's artistic balance. His current works therefore represent the incipit of a new creative path undertaken at a very precise moment in his human maturity, which has led him to always produce painting of great poetic intensity but within a more physical narrative.
