TAG Heuer - Formula E lands in Rome

TAG Heuer, Founding Partner and Official Timekeeper of Formula E, returns to the capital to set the times for the second Electric Grand Prix of Italy, to be held on 12 April. All eyes will be on reigning champion Jean-Eric Vergne (pictured), TAG Heuer's new ambassador. The French driver of the DS Techeetah team, who won the 2018 edition of the electric Formula 1 championship, joins the TAG Heuer family of ambassadors. "It is an honour and a joy to join the TAG Heuer family and to represent the values that the Maison upholds. I've known TAG Heuer for a long time, I've always been won over by its strong connection with motorsport, its performance, its strong ambition to do things their way. I'm a driver myself, I test myself every day, I can understand better than anyone the condition of #dontcrackunderpressure!" said Jean-Eric Vergne. Since the launch of the first electric Formula One championship in 2014, TAG Heuer has been the Founding Partner and official timekeeper of the FIA Formula E championship. TAG Heuer Professional Timing, the timing division of the prestigious Swiss brand, will take care of the championship's timekeeping. The peculiarity of the Formula E championship is that it is run on city circuits. The challenge for TAG Heuer is to set up the entire timing system for each stage only 24 hours before the start of the race, without intervening in any way in the environment, or changing the urban landscape. Indeed, in city centres it is not possible to drown transponders as is done on Formula 1 circuits. The partnership between TAG Heuer and Formula E was signed on 15 May 2013. The Swiss watch brand joined the project 'sight unseen', precisely because of its great affinity with the new, futuristic motor racing championship. The chronograph symbolising the "fast & green" partnership between TAG Heuer and Formula E is the TAG Heuer Carrera CH02 GMT, an in-manufactured chronograph in the series designed for professional drivers and gentlemen drivers with a GMT function, thus indicating a second time zone, to synchronise with the times of all Formula E championship stages (price: €5,550). Also noteworthy is the fact that TAG Heuer is on the side of sustainability: the watchmaker's buildings are in fact powered by solar panels with one of the most impressive photovoltaic installations in Switzerland. In 2010, the House organised the first world tour in an electric GT car 100% with Tesla. Today, TAG Heuer is honoured to be a Founding Partner and Official Timekeeper of the world's most innovative Formula 1 championship on city circuits. A revolutionary initiative that - like TAG Heuer - represents a fusion of engineering, technology, sport, science and design, united to promote change towards a better future. Passion for motorsport has fuelled the Swiss watch brand since the beginning of its history. The link with Formula E is therefore a natural evolution, leveraging the brand's unprecedented connection to motor racing and its commitment to sustainability.
