Gregorio Paltrinieri is the new Panerai ambassador

Gregorio Paltrinieri, reigning Olympic 1,500 m pool champion and king of cross-country at the recent US Open in Miami, where he won his first open water race of the season, is the new Panerai Ambassador for Italy. Born in 1994, Gregorio Paltrinieri, known to everyone as 'Greg', was born in Carpi, in the Emilia Romagna region of Italy, where he spent his entire adolescence. At the age of 6, he began his first competitive races, which kick-started a career that, year by year, became more and more promising. In 2015, Paltrinieri set the European Record in the 800 m and the World Record in the 1,500 m freestyle. At the 2016 European Championships in London he won a double gold and a new record. But it was only at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio that he crowned every athlete's dream: Paltrinieri won the 1,500 m freestyle swimming final, winning the most coveted gold medal and thus entering the Olympus of the world's most important and strongest swimmers. Ahead of the next World Swimming Championships, to be held in Gwangju, South Korea in July 2019, Paltrinieri will compete to win gold again and qualify for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, once again representing Italy in the world. "A few seconds can change the outcome of an entire race. The measurement of time is inextricably linked to the quality of my swimming performance,' said Gregorio Paltrinieri. "I have always loved watches and I am honoured to have been chosen by Panerai, a brand known for its boldness, its connection to the world of water and its innovative strength on a technical level." The first watch chosen by Gregorio is the Submersible BMG-TECH 47 mm, made with a metal crystal, patented by Panerai, with excellent robustness and resistance properties and equipped with a practical rubber strap for use in water, even during the toughest training sessions. "Panerai's mission is to support the exploits of modern heroes by providing them with extremely precise instruments that can accompany them in the most extreme situations," says Jean Marc Pontroué, Panerai CEO. "We are proud to be on the wrist of Gregorio Paltrinieri with the new Submersible models. We look forward to achieving new records and goals together." On 11 June 2019, on the occasion of the Opening of the new Panerai boutique in Rome at Via del Babuino 130, Gregorio Paltrinieri will join the CEO of Panerai for the traditional ribbon-cutting ceremony, thus sealing the collaboration with the watchmaker.
