We received word today that the Board of Directors of Audemars Piguet announced the appointment of Philippe C. Merk, current General Manager of Desco Luxury Group (Maurice Lacroix), as General Manager of Audemars Piguet Holding SA. He will be operational as of 1 January 2009.
At the age of 51, Merk has held important positions in the pharmaceuticals field, then in the FMCG sector, in the US, Germany, Asia and Switzerland. In 2001, he took over the reins of Maurice Lacroix, a brand that he revived with great success.
Georges-Henri Meylan will continue as Director General until 31 December 2008 and ensure the transition with his successor. He will remain a member of the Board, which will still have other opportunities to show its gratitude to him.
