Hamilton at the Silver Ribbons

It goes to Stefano Sollima, known to the general public for directing the successful TV series Crime Novel e Gomorrahand this year director of the international action movie Soldado, the Hamilton Behind The Camera Award - Nastri d'argento 2019, an award that for the seventh edition the "pioneer" brand in the world of cinema dedicates, at the Teatro Antico in Taormina, in collaboration with film journalists, to technical excellence behind the camera. To Stefano Sollima Hamilton, also an official partner of this 73rd edition of the Nastri d'Argento, together with the journalists, presents the 2019 Award for Direction. The film that Sollima directed, namely Soldadostars the likes of Josh Brolin and Benicio Del Toro (as well as Catherine Keener and Matthew Modine) - and is the second chapter in the story that began with Sicario, the action thriller that started the spectacular tale of the war on drug trafficking between Mexico and the United States, which has escalated since the drug cartels began to infiltrate dangerous terrorists across the border on which not only America now focuses its attention. It is also an important film for Italian cinema, since it marks the Roman director's Hollywood debut. Keeping time at the Nastri d'Argento 2019 is the legendary Hamilton Ventura, a true film icon who already appeared on Elvis Presley's wrist in the 1961 film Blue Hawaii and then from 1997, in the saga of Men in Black. The world of cinema represents an inexhaustible source of inspiration for Hamilton, which has been linking its name to prestigious film productions for more than half a century. In order to consolidate this long and intense connection with the film industry, Hamilton decided to inaugurate the collaboration between the internationality of the Hamilton Behind the Camera Awards and the Nastri d'Argento in 2013, creating an award that celebrates this partnership with a special debut. In the first six editions, the Hamilton Behind the Camera Award - Nastri d'Argento was awarded respectively to Alessandro Gassmann, Pierfrancesco Diliberto (Pif), Luca Zingaretti, Gabriele Mainetti, Gabriele Muccino and Luciano Ligabue. In addition to the brand's presence with its watches in prestigious films, for ten editions now the Hamilton Behind the Camera Awards have been the signature event in Hollywood honouring artists and professionals who have made their mark on the film industry in the current year. The awards highlight the creative and valuable work done behind the scenes that is essential to a film's success, whether it be the script or the often invisible work of those who live the set behind the scenes, from the props man to the costume designer to the cinematographer. Past editions have seen winners such as Darren Aronofsky for Jackie, Paul Dano for Wildlifecostume designer Mary Zophres for AVE, CESARE!editor Pietro Scalia, the director of photography for Life of Pi Claudio Miranda, director Bennett Miller and the producers of successful films such as Dallas Buyers Club, The Imitation GameThe award-winning films of Harrison Ford, Patricia Arquette, Lenny Kravitz, Ewan McGregor, Channing Tatum, Steve Carell and Bruce Dern. Hamilton therefore has a rather well-established relationship with cinema. In fact, from the first appearance of a Hamilton watch in the film Shanghai Express of 1932, Hollywood and Hamilton formed an assiduous collaboration. In 1951 in the Oscar-nominated film Sea Frogs (The Frogmen) the actors who played the heroes of the deep sea wore the brand's watches. The film was not only the first appearance of the watches on the screen but was also a difficult test of robustness that passed with flying colours. In 1961, Elvis Presley personally chose a Hamilton Ventura to co-star in the musical film Blue Hawaii. In the 1960s, director Stanley Kubrick turned to Hamilton to make a timepiece and a table clock for his science fiction masterpiece 2001: A Space Odyssey. For science fiction films Men in Black e Men in Black 2Hamilton equipped its legendary Ventura timepiece with a luminous dial. The Ventura has also appeared in films such as Pearl Harbor, Independence Day, Ocean's eleven, Predators, A beautiful mind, Die Hard, The Martian, Interstellar and in 2019 Men in Black™: International.
