The 38th edition of the Hong Kong Watch & Clock Fair, the watchmaking event with the largest exhibition area in the world, will be held from 3 to 7 September 2019 The 2018 edition of the Fair, for its part, which was held as usual at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre at No. 1 Expo Drive (Wanchai, Hong Kong), was attended by more than 21,000 buyers from 100 countries/regions, an increase of 2% in terms of attendance compared to the previous year's edition. In terms of exhibitors, there were a total of 830 from 25 countries/regions. This is a new record in absolute terms for the Fair, which also recorded the presence of new exhibitors from Austria, Poland, South Africa and Turkey. At the last 2018 edition of the Fair, a great turnout of visitors was also recorded in the area called Salon de TE, within which as many as 144 watch brands were located divided into five thematic zones, namely World Brand Piazza, Renaissance Moment, Craft Treasure, Chic & Trendy and Wearable Tech. In particular, the World Brand Piazza hosted creations by 13 world-famous Maisons, namely Blancpain, Breguet, Chopard, Corum, Franck Muller, Glashütte Original, Jacob & Co., Jaquet Droz, Juvenia, Piaget and Zenith, as well as new entries Parmigiani Fleurier and Sarcar Genève. In addition, some 30 events took place during the days of the Fair, including seminars, networking opportunities and the now famous Watch Parade, in order to facilitate the exchange of information between the key players in the global watch industry. Noteworthy is the Hong Kong International Watch Forum, which brought together watch associations from all over the world to spark discussions on future trends in the watch industry and the direction it is heading. Finally, Vincent Calabrese, a renowned master watchmaker and co-founder of the AHCI (Académie Horlogère des Créateurs Indépendants) illustrated the steps involved in creating a watch equipped with a tourbillon device. In addition, the always interesting Hong Kong Watch and Clock Design Competition, now in its 35th edition, took place as usual. The appointment is therefore set for 3 September next, for the 38th edition of the Hong Kong Watch & Clock Fair, which we are sure will once again offer interesting and important insights into the future and trends, both short and long term, of the global watch industry.
