"The Art of Swiss Watchmaking: Swiss Watches from their Origins to the Present Day".

La Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie Geneva will be present at Expo 2010 in Shanghai with a retrospective on the history of Swiss watchmaking, through an exhibition of the most beautiful old and contemporary Swiss watches. The exhibition, "Swiss Watchmaking Art: Swiss Watches from their Origins to the Present Day", will be held from 9 to 15 September in the Swiss Cities Pavilion. Curated by Dominique Fléchon, watchmaking expert at the FHH, the epsoition presents around forty exceptional pieces from the collections of the Musée d'Art et d'Histoire in Geneva, the Fondation Beyer in Zurich and many of the brands belonging to the Foundation.

The exhibition is organised in three sections:

From ornamental to precision clocks (15th to 18th century)

Technical, Chinese and Fantasy Horology (19th century)

The wristwatch from its origins to today (20th century)

The exhibition is also an opportunity for the Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie to disseminate other important activities for Switzerland, including the quality label of the Hallmark of Geneva, one of the first measures against counterfeiting. In addition, a master watchmaker at his workbench will offer visitors an example of the vast experience and meticulous care that give rise to mechanical masterpieces.
