Vacheron Constantin collaborates with the Arianee consortium

Vacheron Constantin turned to the Arianee consortium to activate and use digital certification via Blockchain technology, announced last May. The authentication, effective from 15 May on watches from the Les Collectionneurs collection, offers customers an unparalleled certification and traceability service, with the aim of combating counterfeiting. As a pilot Maison of the Richemont group in the implementation of digital certification of watches, Vacheron Constantin chose to work with Arianee to find a guarantee and authentication solution based on data protection and customer anonymity. By virtue of its status as an association created in 2019, Arianee manages the Blockchain project as a decentralised and independent protocol, offering watch owners the guarantee of neutrality. According to Guillaume Boilot, Chief Operating Officer of Vacheron Constantin, "By announcing the digitisation of certificates of authenticity, our Maison is keeping up with the times, placing itself as always at the service of its customers. Through Blockchain technology and in partnership with Arianee, we offer them security on the authenticity of their watches." With Arianee, the use of cryptographic technology and the decentralised features of Blockchain technology, Vacheron Constantin intends to explore the possibility of creating a standard protocol for the digital certification of objects that can be used by all luxury operators. Pierre-Nicolas Hurstel, CEO of Arianee, adds: "We are proud to have enabled Vacheron Constantin to issue the first certificate of authenticity based on Blockchain technologies. Digital identities will transform the way we own valuable assets, and Arianee couldn't have wished for a better start than this pilot programme: the perfect starting point for our commitment to creating a global standard." Arianee is one of the first concrete applications of Blockchain available to end users. This open source solution is designed to give every object an unforgeable, durable, secure and transferable digital identity. In addition to traditional paper authentication, each watch registered on the Arianee protocol receives a certificate in the form of a digital passport with several innovative features: it can be transferred from one owner to another; it creates an anonymous link between the owner and Vacheron Constantin; it is open and connected, making it possible to insure the model, declare its theft or loss, and share or prove ownership. As Angela Au-Yeung, Chief Digital Officer of Vacheron Constantin, explains: "This certification creates bridges and interactions between customers, their watches and our company. Thanks to protection via Blockchain, we can track our products throughout their life cycle and communicate with their owners without asking them to give up their anonymity. Emmanuelle Collet, CMO at Arianee, adds: "We are looking forward to the full implementation of the Arianee protocol with Maison Vacheron Constantin. We are thrilled to be able to offer the revolutionary features of digital certificates to every new owner of the magnificent Vacheron Constantin watches. This technology will make the experience of owning a Vacheron Constantin timepiece even more extraordinary, and will strengthen the relationship between the owner and the Maison".

Arianee

Arianee is an independent consortium whose goal is to create a global standard for the digital certification of precious objects by promoting and supporting the adoption of the Arianee protocol. The protocol provides each precious object with an authentic, secure and augmented digital representation. This digital identity opens a perpetual and protected communication channel from the design stage between brands, owners and products. Arianee develops industrial, open source and decentralised solutions through cryptographic technology and distributed governance.
