Omega for Tokyo 2020

Less than a year separates us from the start of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games and Omega, Official Timekeeper of the event, recently unveiled two new limited edition watches to celebrate the event. The Bienne-based company has been the Official Timekeeper of the Olympic Games in no fewer than 28 editions since 1932. In addition to recording the dreams of the greatest athletes in history, the brand has also developed and perfected many of the most sophisticated timekeeping technologies dedicated to the world of sport. When the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games kick off next year on 24 July, Omega will be there for the 29th time as Official Timekeeper, continuing its prestigious tradition. Just like the athletes taking part in the Olympic Games, the Seamaster Aqua Terra offers brilliant performance both on land and at sea. On this sports model dedicated to Tokyo 2020, Omega has introduced the first ceramic dial in the collection, featuring a blue polished finish and a laser-engraved Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games symbol. The symmetrical 41 mm case, on the other hand, is made of steel and has a sapphire crystal case back with a decalised Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games symbol. The watch, produced in a limited edition of only 2,020 pieces, is fitted with a blue textured rubber strap and an additional steel bracelet in its special case. It is powered by the Omega Master Chronometer 8900 calibre. The Swiss watchmaker has also unveiled a second model dedicated to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, the Seamaster Planet Ocean Tokyo 2020 Limited Edition The 39.5 mm case is made of steel; the bezel ring is polished white ceramic and features a Liquidmetal graduated scale. In homage to the Tokyo 2020 edition, the number 20 on the bezel is filled with red liquid ceramic. The polished white ceramic dial echoes the Tokyo theme with a special central "lollipop" seconds hand, which admirably represents the flag of Japan with its red lacquered dot. This watch, which is also being produced in a limited edition of 2,020 pieces, is powered by the Omega Master Chronometer calibre 8800 and features a sapphire crystal case back with a Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games symbol in decal. It is completed by a white leather strap and accompanied by a steel bracelet and an additional NATO strap inside its case.
