Patek Philippe flies the Bolaffi auction

It was the rare Patek Philippe 1463 Tasti Tondi in pink gold with complete period equipment that was the top lot of the Bolaffi Auctions watch sale: after dozens of bids in the crowded room of the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Milan, the watch finally fetched €272,000, pushing the total auction result to €1.3m, including royalties. In second place was one of only two known examples of the Eberhard Model Magini, a split-seconds chronograph that owes its birth to a secret mission in World War II, which fetched €156,000; third top lot was the iconic Rolex Daytona 6263 in gold in like-new condition, which sold for €123,000. The auction closed with a higher percentage of lots sold than 90%. "It is another great result for the Watch Department, which grows auction after auction, confirming that the selection work on the watches in the catalogue is bearing fruit and that the condition of the pieces and rarity always pay off," said Alessio Coccioli, specialist of the Watch Department.
