The competition "Find the oldest Longines watch in Italy" has come to an end. With the serial number 70710 engraved on the movement, the pocket watch of the young collector Giorgio Barzaghi took first place. A silver piece equipped with a Longines mechanical hand-wound movement, calibre 20B, produced in 1874. Giorgio's is a passion inherited from his father, a great admirer of watches and antiques fairs, who about twenty years ago gave his son this specimen purchased at a market because he was intrigued by the key winding. For him, the prize, a Longines Flagship timepiece presented for the occasion by President Walter von Känel and a stay for two in St-Imier, Switzerland, where the Maison is based, with a dedicated visit to the museum to retrace the brand's evolution through the centuries.
