The German Design Council awarded the Glashütte manufacture the renowned award for the Tangente Sport automatic timepiece neomatik 42 date - a major success for Tangente Sport. This model, water-resistant to a pressure of 30 atmospheres (approx. 300 metres), is much more than a classic NOMOS in a sporty version. The international jury of the German Design Award was also convinced of this: in addition to the unmistakable style of the lettering and the new NOMOS metal bracelet - the elements that contribute to the "unique character" of this watch - its members also praised the "use of outstanding technology and the choice of top-quality materials". To all intents and purposes, this NONOS model is reminiscent of a small safe: the stainless steel case and sapphire glass back boast 20% more thickness than other models; the gaskets have also been made more robust. Absolute solidity and absolute beauty: these were the objectives shared from the very beginning of the project by all those responsible for product development and the choice of materials. The timepiece houses the neomatik manufacture calibre NOMOS DUW 6101. Manufactured in-house at Glashütte, this calibre - in addition to guaranteeing extreme reliability and precision - makes it possible to use the large date display at 3 o'clock. The German Design Award is conferred annually by the German Design Council, the highest authority in the fields of branding and design, founded in 1953 on the initiative of the German Bundestag. Every year, awards are presented for outstanding products and projects in the field of design, such as the Tangente Sport from NOMOS Glashütte. NOMOS is one of the few watch manufacturing companies in the world that is still privately run, and manufactures precision mechanical watches - with eleven proprietary calibres - in the East German town of Glashütte. German engineering excellence, Glashütte's tradition of craftsmanship and design quality (in the tradition of the Bauhaus and the Deutscher Werkbund): these are the elements that have earned the exclusive NOMOS timepieces many important awards. For NOMOS Glashütte, this is also the sixth German Design Award in a row. In 2019, the Autobahn model won the gold award.
