Citizen and the Eco-drive technology

In 1976, Citizen created the Crystron solar-powered watch, initiating what is now known as Eco-drive technology, which allows its timepieces to capture light (from any solar or artificial source) and accumulate it to be used as an operating principle instead of the common battery. The same technology has now been used to create the Crystron Prototype collection, dedicated only to the Italian market and composed of three variants made in 750 pieces. The case represents the re-edition of one of the forerunner prototypes of the Crystron: a 1974 prototype that was never put into production.
