H. Moser & Cie. Streamliner Flyback Chronograph Automatic

Moser & Cie. ushers in 2020 with a new line, a new case, a new integrated bracelet, a new movement, a new dial and new hands. Everything is new and different in the Streamilner (this is the name of the model), but everything is unmistakably Moser. Flowing lines, geometric curves, dynamic shapes, a harmony of contrasts and textures: H. Moser & Cie. opts for minimalism and creates the first integrated automatic chronograph with a central display and flyback function. The Streamliner boasts its own distinctive personality and displays a different, sensational beauty and is the 100% Moser. Over five years ago, H. Moser & Cie. began the development of a completely new and unique product line. The initial idea was to design a model with a steel case and integrated bracelet, but this soon became inseparable from the notion of fluidity and continuous curved lines. The name of the collection was an obvious choice: it would be Streamliner, like the early high-speed trains of the 1920s and TYenta whose rounded, aerodynamic curves the watch evokes. Minimalism, an essential feature of the H. Moser & Cie. identity, is at the heart of the entire creative process and influences both the aesthetics of the model and its movement and functions, as Edouard Meylan, CEO of H. Moser & Cie. explains: "We started with the bracelet, which is comfortable, elegant and different. We then designed this model around the chronograph function, because that was what we wanted to highlight. The Streamliner is a chronograph that tells the time rather than a watch with a chronograph. We favoured sobriety, ergonomics and legibility, opting for central displays without a sub-dial, reflecting our minimalist philosophy to perfection. We started from the very essence of the chronograph and redefined its standards." The Streamliner Flyback Chronograph Automatic is a shapely watch with a 42.3-mm-diameter stainless steel case. With dynamic water-resistance to 12 atmospheres, the chronograph function of the Streamliner Flyback Chronograph Automatic can also be used under water. Its off-centre crown, adorned with an 'M', balances the two chronograph pushers located at 10 and 2 o'clock. The case is surmounted by a slightly domed sapphire crystal of the Glassbox type, and has a transparent back. The lines continue in the integrated steel bracelet, elegantly curved to follow the line of the wrist; the unique link design ensures a perfect fit even on the thinnest of wrists. The bracelet, with its highly complex construction, displays extremely fluid lines inspired by organic shapes. All the links are jointed and form a delicate wave that alternates a vertical brushed finish with polished surfaces. The bezel features a sun-brushed finish; the case alternates between polished and brushed surfaces, with hollow, satin-finished shapes on the sides, a reference to the typical shapes of Moser cases. As far as the movement is concerned, the Streamliner is the first automatic chronograph with a central display equipped with a flyback function for minutes and seconds. Its chronograph calibre is considered by many experts to be one of the best ever designed. This new movement was designed by AGENHOR with the support of the H. Moser & Cie. team on the basis of a philosophy very similar to that adopted for the famous H. Moser & Cie. perpetual calendar, a milestone in the manufacture's success. Its design is extremely complex, but the end result is simple, legible and minimalist, with the emphasis on functionality and ergonomics thanks to the central display. By enhancing the chronograph function, AGENHOR has effectively rewritten the rules of chronograph technology that have been applied for over 200 years. To make it possible to admire the mechanism of the watch, and the operation of the chronograph and column wheel, the oscillating weight was placed between the movement and the dial. Thanks to the retrograde principle that allows the elapsed minute hand to be instantly triggered using the energy stored and then released by a snailed cam, the HMC 902 calibre allows for greater precision in reading the indications. The Streamliner Flyback Chronograph Automatic, equipped with two chronograph hands, one for the minutes and one for the seconds, and two hands for the hour indication, one for the hours and one for the minutes, is decidedly understated. For the dial of the Streamliner Flyback Chronograph Automatic, H. Moser & Cie. has revisited the brand's signature element, the smoky dial. The dial comes in a new anthracite grey shade, and is not only smoky but also griffé. Around the circumference are two red and white minute markers: the outer one for the seconds and the inner one for the minutes. The number 60, at 12 o'clock, dominates the dial and recalls the chronometers of the sixties and seventies, when legibility and functionality were fundamental. For the sake of legibility, the company opted for a red seconds hand, while the minute hand is rhodium-plated. To indicate the hours and minutes, H. Moser & Cie. chose three-dimensional curved hands with two sections. These are fitted with inserts containing Globolight®, an innovative ceramic-based material that contains Super-LumiNova® and has never before been used for hands. With the new Streamliner Flyback Chronograph Automatic, H. Moser & Cie. has created a new line with a design and movement that is destined to become iconic. 192 years after the founding of H. Moser & Cie., this chronograph embodies everything the brand stands for today. The result of commitment and hard work, the Streamliner Flyback Chronograph Automatic draws a line between the past and the future and marks the beginning of a new era for H. Moser & Cie. The Streamliner Flyback Chronograph Automatic is priced at 38,000 euros and is produced in a limited edition of only 100 pieces.
