Wyler Genève and the racing world

Wyler Genève e il mondo delle corse

It is recent news that a three-year agreement has been signed between the well-known watch brand Wyler Genève and the organisers of the London - Brighton Classic Car Race, for which the Maison will be the official timekeeper. On the occasion of this important collaboration, the House will have the opportunity to introduce its exclusive shock-resistant watch to the British public. The historic motoring event was first held in 1896 to celebrate the Light Locomotives Act and in the same year Paul Wyler, the founder of the Wyler Watch Company, was born. He is credited with patenting the shatterproof Incaflex balance that we find in the brand's models. The watch movement is sealed inside a titanium case which in turn is enclosed in a carbon fibre structure mounted on springs between two metal sheets. The resulting sandwich construction allows the movement to be suspended inside the watch, enabling it to absorb shocks, like car suspensions. Other features of the Wyler Genève timepieces are the rubber crown protector, reminiscent of a tyre, the stylised pushers, in homage to car pedals, and the winding rotor reminiscent of modern ceramic disc brakes.
