Travelling with Porsche Design

The new 1919 Globetimer UTC from Porsche Design is dedicated to travellers. The local time can be set with the help of a contoured pusher: each time it is pressed, the short local-hour hand advances one position clockwise. When travelling east, each press of the '+' button advances the second time zone by one hour. When travelling west instead, pressing the '-' button moves the UTC hands in the opposite direction. In the meantime, the UTC hands move automatically while remaining in tune. To ensure that this happens at midnight and not at noon, the time only needs to be set correctly once. Porsche Design also takes into account the time zone of departure, for which a second hour hand, distinguishable by its luminous tip, is required. This hand turns once every twenty-four hours, showing at a glance whether it is reasonable to phone home, or whether it is already too late (or too early). The colour contrasts on the blue dial, the distinctive hands, indices and numerals combine with the generous use of SuperLuminova to minimise the possibility of reading errors, even in low light conditions. The 42 mm titanium case of the 1919 Globetimer UTC Titanium & Blue houses the new Werk 04.110 calibre, based on the Sellita SW 200 movement, with a 38-hour power reserve. On sale for €5,950 (recommended retail price) at Porsche Design stores, specialised dealers and online at the Porsche Design website.
