Garmin - vivomove Luxe

Within the Garmin watch catalogue, in addition to models created specifically for professional sportsmen and sports enthusiasts (such as the Marq collection), there are also examples that focus more on the more traditional side of watchmaking, particularly with regard to design. This is the case with the vivomove Luxe collection shown on these pages, which consists of hybrid smartwatches with a classic and elegant design, while at the same time helping the wearer to keep various parameters of their physical well-being under control at all times. In terms of design, the vivomove Luxe looks like a classic watch with a round case and a two-sphere dial, with baton hands and Arabic numeral and cabochon hour markers. However, the dial itself actually 'hides' a backlit (i.e. readable in the dark) AMOLED colour touchscreen divided into two zones, lower and upper. Naturally, all smart functions, such as fitness data, are displayed on the screen, and this information is accessed by simply rotating the wrist or touching the screen with the fingers. When the screen is activated, the hands automatically position themselves at 9:15 a.m., making it easier to read the information, except that they return to the current time once the screen is deactivated. As far as habillage is concerned, the case (with a diameter of 42 mm) and bezel are made of stainless steel, and are available in different variants with reference to the coating, i.e. with a satin finish or with PVD coating in 18 or 24 carat gold. As far as the method of fastening to the wrist is concerned, there are also three variants to choose from, namely a leather strap or a Milanese mesh steel bracelet, with or without yellow gold plating. The glass protecting the dial is sapphire and water resistance is guaranteed up to 5 atmospheres of pressure (equivalent to about 50 metres depth). But let's take a closer look at the functions that characterise the hybrid smartwatch from Garmin's vivomove Luxe collection. The watch provides information on the wearer's health status 24/7, including heart rate detection by means of Garmin Elevate technology, or the Body Battery function, which detects the wearer's energy reserve. The watch is also equipped with the integrated Pulse Ox pulse oximeter, which provides information on blood oxygenation (a very important value when practising sporting activities), which is also useful for determining the quality of sleep at night. The latter parameter can be viewed via the Garmin Connect app, in terms of light, deep and REM sleep. In addition, the vivomove Luxe can detect daily stress, guiding the user through breathing exercises at times of particular agitation. The watch also allows users to monitor their body's hydration level, and, for the female audience, integrates the innovative Menstrual Cycle function, which monitors the menstrual cycle, helping women to establish a connection between the phase of their cycle, their physical symptoms and their training. Of course, Garmin's vivomove Luxe also provides information typical of classic fitness bands, such as calories burned, step counters, stairs climbed, and preset sport profiles such as jogging, walking, yoga, cardio, etc. In addition, the new connected GPS technology allows the watch to take advantage of the satellite signal from the associated smartphone (either android or iOS), enabling the vivomove Luxe to track and trace an outdoor sporting activity. The watch, when connected with a compatible smartphone, is also capable of handling smart notifications, i.e. alerts for e-mails, SMS, incoming calls and push notifications. These Garmin hybrid smartwatches also include the ability to make contactless purchases via Garmin Pay technology, without the need to carry your wallet or phone. Finally, a note about the battery life, which is really extensive: it is in fact five days in smartwatch mode and up to two weeks in watch mode, with the remaining charge obviously indicated by the watch itself.
