TAG Heuer - The new Monaco

TAG Heuer Monaco V4 Next Generation
TAG Heuer Monaco V4 Next Generation

Presented for the first time at BaselWorld 2004, the Monaco by TAG Heuer is the first watch in the world to be powered by a belt system and a linear automatic winding system. The newest version of this double-patented, mechanical and watchmaking model, the V4 Next Generation Rose Gold Ruthenium and Ceramic, is offered with an oversized rose gold case (41 millimetres in diameter compared to 39) and brushed silicon nitride ceramic inserts. Other details in rose gold are the hand-applied indexes, the hour and minute hands, the small seconds hand at 4 o'clock, the thermo-lacquered crown at 3 o'clock, and the safety clasp. The strap is made of ultra-soft crocodile leather, with anthracite hand-stitching, titanium inserts and rubberized leather lining. Through the sapphire crystal with double anti-reflective treatment on both sides, it is possible to admire the movement, with its linear tungsten oscillating weight, two pairs of barrels in series, arranged in parallel and connected by belts. Unlike previous models, the finishing has changed radically, with a high-strength black ruthenium coating on the mainplate and bridges. In a limited edition of 60 pieces, the Monaco V4 Next Generation Rose Gold Ruthenium and Ceramic is a finalist in the Design Watch of the Year category at this year's Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève.
