Laureate Ghost, the Girard-Perregaux novelty

Girard-Perregaux celebrates the 45th anniversary of the Laureato with a limited edition produced in collaboration with Bamford Watch Department, a company specialising in the complete customisation of the world's most iconic watches. It features a 38 mm case in white technical ceramic, a material that is lighter than titanium, scratch-resistant, stain-resistant and hypoallergenic: an innovation for both BVD and the Laureato collection. George Bamford, founder of Bamford Watch Department, explains: 'Everyone knows I wear black watches and I love everything black. However, following in the wake of the other watches I have worked on, this time I wanted to go further by designing a white watch. I was fascinated by the idea of an ethereal watch, with a character that was almost reminiscent of a ghost, hence the name". The white colour, also used for the clous de Paris dial background, sets off the black minute track on the flange, the hour markers and the hands, including the seconds hand with a zebra pattern counterweight. Also in black is the crown, in pvd-treated titanium, with embossed GP logo. The Laureato Ghost can be worn with a white calfskin strap, with black stitching, or with a white ceramic bracelet. The caseback is engraved with the words "One of 45" and "Laureato 45th Anniversary" and the movement is the in-house automatic GP03300-0139. A limited edition of 45 pieces, the watch will be on sale exclusively at Dover Street Market (shop.doverstreetmarket.com) and Harrods (harrods.com) for a limited period of one month from November 2020. Thereafter, the model will be available at authorised Girard-Perregaux retailers.
