Fortis Mars 500

Space School Tour is the first Itinerant Event in Secondary Schools dedicated to Space, Flight, Science and the Environment, with the collaboration and contribution of the Municipality of Milan - Department of Sport and Leisure and with the patronage of the Municipality of Milan, the Department of Education, the Milan Polytechnic and the Maxwell Institute.

Supporting this project is the Fortiswhich continues to support Space Tv throughout the 'Space School Tour'. The programme began on 1 December 2010 at the Maxwell Aeronautical Institute in Milan and will end on 19 January 2011. This meeting was followed by others, again in Milan: 2 December at ITIS Molinari, 9 December at Istituto Aeronautico De Amicis, 10 December at ITIS Feltrinelli, and the first part of the Tour will end on 19 January at Liceo Classico Giuseppe Parini.

This is the starting point of a project that, from Milan, will go all over Italy and in the future also abroad: an innovative way to orient young people towards new interests and new professions, projecting them into their future.

Science, flight, astronautics, astronomy, climate and the environment were narrated by exceptional testimonials, such as Astronaut Umberto Guidoni, Meteorologist Andrea Giuliacci, Science Journalist Luigi Bignami, a representative of the Italian Air Force, and a lecturer from the Aerospace Engineering Department of the Milan Polytechnic, who involved the students through videos and questions, creating a truly interactive relationship with the students, who at this stage are those attending the final years of secondary school.

Fortis, always present at the various stages of the Tour, had the opportunity to explain the close relationship between the concept of time and its measurement, and how and why Fortis watches are tested in space and what the value of this experimentation is.

Finally, as a further element of involvement for the children, Space Tv has included a competition in the context of the S.S.T.. After the conference each boy is asked to write a theme/article and the teacher will choose the one he considers the best and send it to the Space Tv editorial staff. The editorial staff will evaluate them and announce the winner. Prize up for grabs: a Fortis Mars 500 watch.
