Today our attention will turn to a fraternity...yes, you read that right. It is the Confrérie Horlogèreofficially presented in Geneva on 3 December and born from the ambitious project of Mathias Buttet, founder and President of BNB Concept S.A., a company specialising in the creation of high-end complicated movements. The basic idea is to bring together the best watchmakers working for this company and offer them the opportunity to develop a new brand. There will be seven talented people in all, including brothers and sisters, who will be able to create creations of no more than ten pieces each, guaranteed for life and animated by great complications. For some, this project represents a chance at redemption, as in the case of watchmaker David Rodriguez, who has created a timepiece whose highly unusual case back shows the scars and difficulties of the life of a Peruvian orphan, mistreated and condemned to live on crutches, who has found in Swiss watchmaking the possibility of revenge. The collections of the seven brothers/sisters will be presented in 2009 at different times and in different ways.
