Breguet - The new Marines

Marine Alarme Musicale 5547, with titanium case and crocodile strap.

Breguet Maison presents new variants of its Marine 5517, 5527 and 5547, namely the solotempo, chronograph and alarm versions. All three models also have a date window display. Launched in 2017, this new generation of the Marine line reinterprets Breguet's aesthetic elements in a contemporary key. All three models feature Roman numeral and luminescent hourmarkers and Breguet's famous facetted and luminescent gold "à pomme" hands. The House offers these creations with different straps: leather, rubber or metal. With the presentation of the first versions of references 5517, 5527 and 5547 in 2018, Breguet also introduced a new material to the collection: titanium. Its properties in terms of robustness and lightness make this material the ideal choice for a line with maritime origins. From 2019, the House is also offering a titanium bracelet that emphasises the contemporary side. Breguet presents the Marine in titanium with a hand-finished soleil finish on the dial. Very fine lines have been traced from the centre to the edge of the dial itself. As a tribute to the spirit of the collection, the new timepieces display this finish in all shades of blue. The pink versions of the Marines, for their part, display a type of guillochage specially designed for this collection, reflecting its inspiration. The gold dial, made like the porthole of a boat that allows a glimpse of the sea in motion, is decorated with 'wave' guillochage. This art, which has always distinguished Breguet timepieces, gives even more soul to this watch thanks to the know-how of the guillochage craftsmen trained in the House. Highlighting the different indications on the dial is extremely complex to achieve, and the guillochage is here declined in slate notes, offering a beautiful contrast with the depth of the pink gold. In terms of dimensions, the Marine solotempo and Alarme Musicare have a diameter of 40 mm, while the chronograph measures 42.3 mm. The calibres housed in these models are entirely designed in-house. All automatic mechanical, they are, in particular, Calibre 777A for the solotempo, Calibre 582QA for the chronograph and Calibre 519F/1, all with an inverted-line anchor escapement with silicon horns and silicon balance spring. The three references are also equipped with a gold oscillating weight. Finally, water-resistance is up to 10 atmospheres for the three-hand model and the chronograph and up to 5 for the Alarme Musicale.
