The Arnold & Son Atlas

Representing our planet is Arnold & Son's Globetrotter, a world time watch now also available with an 18K 5N red gold case. Protagonist is the three-dimensional dial that depicts the northern hemisphere thanks to a hand-crafted "sculpture" that shows off its sculpted lands and mountain ranges, respectively shiny and opaque, the oceans hand-painted with several layers of blue pigment lacquer enriched with mother-of-pearl powder, and the shores, in a lighter shade, coated with SuperLuminova that makes them stand out at night. This representation is topped by a large central openworked bridge in solid gold, as large as the entire diameter of the dial, with a ruby in the centre holding the universal hour axis. The universal hour ring is made of transparent sapphire, with the local hours being read by the red hands pointing to the red gold indices painted with SuperLuminova, while the world hours are read by displaying an imaginary longitude from the ruby on the central bridge to the 24-hour sapphire ring. The outermost part of the dial, the one surrounding the globe, has a refined sunburst finish in a shaded blue colour. The watch is equipped with the automatic A&S6022 calibre, fully developed, manufactured, decorated, assembled, adjusted and encased at the Arnold & Son manufacture in La Chaux-de-Fonds. Its oscillating weight is made of 22-carat gold, embellished with a guilloché finish with a clous de Paris motif and skeletonised. Its specific finish consists of NAC treatment, a type of plating that uses precious metals close to platinum and creates a captivating anthracite effect that matches the red gold of the case. In a limited edition of 28 pieces, the Globetrotter Gold is on sale for CHF 41,900 (excluding tax).
