Seiko supports the PADI AWARE Foundation

Seiko Watch Corporation announces a new partnership with PADI and the PADI AWARE Foundation's Marine Debris Program, aimed at cleaning up the ocean of marine debris. Seiko will meet this challenge by donating a portion of the proceeds from the Seiko Prospex Save the Ocean collection to the community of PADI divers, who are working to remove and report marine debris found in aquatic environments. The history of Seiko's diving timepieces began in 1965 with the first Japanese diver's watch. Since then, all Seiko diver's watches have been developed in response to the needs of professional divers, introducing many historic timepieces into the collection, featuring important developments in terms of safety, reliability, readability and ease of use. At the heart of the PADI AWARE Foundation's Marine Debris Programme lies the largest citizen science movement, the marine clean-up initiative known as Dive Against Debris. More than 70,000 divers have contributed to building the most comprehensive underwater database of seabed debris on the planet, actively shared with NGOs, governments and local communities to advocate for change and work towards providing long-term waste management solutions. Seiko is therefore a sponsor of PADI's diving community and contributes to its efforts to clean up the seas and prevent marine debris build-up, for a cleaner and healthier ocean. Seiko's initiative will be conducted according to Sustainable Development Goal 14 to 'conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources'.
