This new creation from Cuervo y Sobrinos, whose production is limited to just 100 pieces, features a 1939 Harley Davidson Knucklehead Bobber on the dial. The design is the work of the famous American artist Scott Jacobs. The Knucklehead was produced between 1936 and 1947; however, it is the pre-war examples that are most coveted by enthusiasts. Scott Jacobs met two such enthusiasts who shared his love for the iconic American marque, Patrick and Cris Simmons. The latter owned a 1939 Knucklehead Bobber. Although this motorbike differed from the original factory specifications, the bright blue and yellow paintwork, special 'bobbed' mudguards and knobbly tyres attracted many admiring glances. Previously, Cuervo y Sobrinos had started a collaboration with Jacobs, culminating in the launch of a limited edition watch based on his 'Live to Ride' painting. When the Cuban-born watchmaker offered to work together again, Jacobs decided to capture the look of the 1939 Knucklehead Bobber. The dial of the Espléndidos Scott Jacobs watch provided the American artist with a canvas on which to express his creativity. Initially, Jacobs created a life-size original work. Later, this work of art was reproduced in miniature, using a special 4-colour laser printing technique. Now, the particular colour combination that characterises this unprecedented 1939 Harley Davidson Knucklehead Bobber is beautifully represented on the dial of the watch, which employs a 36 x 47 mm steel case, water-resistant to 3 atmospheres of pressure. The movement used is the calibre CYS 5085 (based on STP 1-11, diameter 25.6 mm, thickness 4.6 mm, 26 jewels, 28,800 vibrations per hour, 44-hour power reserve), mechanical with automatic winding. The watch is available with a blue alcantara strap with orange stitching or with a steel bracelet, both with folding clasp.
